Movie Night

SEARG & Art History GradForum would like to invite you for the screening of Cyclo, a movie by the French-Vietnamese film director Tran Anh Hung on Thursday, November 16 at 6pm in room 336 Ingraham Hall.

Tran Anh Hung is known for the movie The Scent of Green Papaya, which won the Caméra d’Or in Cannes in 1993. Cyclo is part of Tran Anh Hung’s “Vietnam trilogy” includingThe Scent of Green Papaya and Vertical Ray of Sun.

Cyclo won a Golden Lion at the 52nd annual Venice International Film Festival and the renowned actor Tony Leung (In the Mood for the Love) plays a Vietnamese gangster-poet in it. Tony Leung’s character, the depiction of the labor force in Saigon and the unique style of the director make Cyclo a “cult” movie.

We hope you can join us to watch this rarely screened movie!
