Looking for a Translator?

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies does not offer translation services for Southeast Asian languages.  However, we are happy to provide referrals to reputable translators when we receive translation inquiries for the following languages:  Burmese, Filipino (Tagalog), Hmong, Indonesian, Khmer (Cambodian), Lao, Thai and Vietnamese.

If you are looking for a translator in any of the languages listed above, you may send your inquiry to the UW-Madison Center for Southeast Asian Studies, seasia@intl-institute.wisc.edu, or call us at 608-263-1755.  Please include in your inquiry:  your name, telephone number, email address, and a description of the translation job.  For example, whether the job involves primarily translating speech or written documents, when the job needs to begin, how often it will take place, and the location of the work.

We will forward the inquiry to individuals within our network who have advanced proficiency in the target language of the translation job.

Please note:  Terms and payment for translation services are negotiated directly between the employer and the translator.  UW-Madison’s Center for SE Asian Studies will not be involved in contract or payment negotiations for translation jobs.
