The Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in collaboration with UW-Madison’s Hmong American Student Association (HASA), hosted a workshop for K-12 teachers, ESL teachers, principals, other administrators, counselors, and librarians interested in learning more about the challenges and successes of Hmong-American students in Wisconsin schools. The workshop featured presentations on Hmong history and culture, information on college preparation, lesson plans for curriculum development, and a panel discussion with UW-Madison students offering insights into their experiences in Wisconsin schools. More broadly, it addressed current issues facing Hmong students and their families in the US, Southeast Asia, & Southern China today.
