The Article 112 Project, part of the Justice in Southeast Asia Lab in the Center for Southeast Asian Studies UW-Madison CSEAS, is offering small (~200-750 USD) grants to support work on Article 112 and freedom of expression in Thailand. The work may be new or ongoing. Applications are open to anyone, anywhere in the world, but UW-Madison students will receive preference.
Deadline: 15 November 2024
All those funded will be required to share a report on their work during online, public symposia during the week of 5-9 May 2025.

RESEARCH: It may be focussed on any aspect of the law and its full and comparative legal, social, political, human rights and historical impacts. Topics may include but are not limited to the political prisoners, bail policy and denial, online speech and constriction of freedom of expression, artistic responses to Article 112, etc. The research may be part of a degree program, but it does not have to be.

CREATIVE: It may be focussed on any aspect of the law and its full and comparative legal, social, political, human rights and historical impacts. Possible formats include but are not limited to film, visual art, photography, fiction, autobiography, poetry, etc.

TRANSLATION: It may be focussed on any aspect of the law and its full and comparative legal, social, political, human rights and historical impacts. You may choose a court decision, writing about Article 112, writing about the monarchy, creating writing proximate to Article 112, or something else altogether.
