Southeast Asia and Social Justice Undergraduate Research Fellowship

The Southeast Asia and Social Justice Undergraduate Research Fellowship is a program that pairs two UW undergraduates with UW faculty for a semester-long research collaboration. Each student registers for and receives independent study credit, as well as an honorarium of $1000; the faculty advisor will receive an honorarium of $500.

Faculty who are interested in applying for Spring 2024: please submit a short proposal (500-750 words) of what you and the undergraduate student will work on together, by 17  November, to the JSEALab (jsealab@seasia.wisc.edu).

 

 

Past Awardees

Spring 2023:

  1. Neon Blu Gallardo-Mambaje is a third-year student pursing an Asian Languages and Cultures major with certificates in Asian American Studies and Gender and Women’s studies. Being of an ethnic minority of Filipino and Native CHamorro heritage, his interests stem from his passion for diversion, equity, and inclusion. These interests are represented by his academic pursuits. Key focuses for his studies include liberation movements, art and media, and refugees and migration.
  2. Tierney Boler is  a language learner, social justice advocate, artist and third year undergraduate student at The University of Wisconsin Madison. She is double majoring in Chinese and environmental studies and minoring in 3D studio art.
