On Imagination by Ma Chinthe, translated by Nicole T. Venker
Ma Chinthe is a Burmese diasporic cultural worker currently based in the ancestral lands of Menominee and Ho-Chunk Nations. In this essay, the author bridges insights between science fiction and anthropology to contemplate the importance of imagining decolonial, liberatory, and emancipatory futures. Going beyond the dismantling of Myanmar’s colonial, militarized, and oppressive regimes, Ma Chinthe encourages readers to envision new worlds in their place.
